Terms of Service
Last updated 24 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and TaoSoft AS ("we"), which runs Sociograph. You accept them when you join. How we handle your personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
Joining
- You must be 18 or older.
- One account per person, and it must be yours: no accounts for someone else, shared accounts, or accounts run by software.
- You sign in with Google. Keep that Google account secure, since anyone who can sign in to it can use your Sociograph account.
- Sociograph is free to use.
Your content
What you post stays yours. You give us a free, non-exclusive permission to store it, to show it to the people who can see it on Sociograph (as the Privacy Policy describes), and to copy it when it is reported, for as long as we keep it under these terms. You are responsible for what you post, and you must have the right to post it.
You can edit or delete your content, and delete your account, at any time, with one exception that protects what others have written: once others have taken part in a debate or question you started, you can no longer delete it, and if you delete your account it stays up, credited to "Deleted member". Copies of reported content are kept in our moderation records, as the Privacy Policy explains.
Rules
On Sociograph you must not:
- post anything illegal, including threats, incitement to violence, hate speech, defamation, or material that infringes copyright or other rights;
- post any sexual content involving minors, real, drawn or generated. We remove it, ban the account and report it to the police;
- post pornography, sexually explicit material or nude pictures;
- post graphic violence, or encourage self-harm or suicide;
- harass, bully, threaten or stalk anyone, or use another account to reach someone who blocked you;
- share anyone's personal information without their consent, such as their address, phone number, identity documents, private pictures, or anything that shows where they are;
- try to find out where a member is, or who they are, beyond what they chose to show;
- pretend to be another person or an organisation, or use someone else's picture as your profile picture;
- post spam, advertising, scams, malware or phishing links;
- collect data about members or their content with bots, scripts or other automated means, copy it in bulk, or use it to build profiles of people or to train AI models;
- try to get around rate limits, blocks or bans, or create a new account after being banned;
- try to fool face verification, for example with a photo, a video, a mask, a generated face or someone else's face;
- attack, overload or probe Sociograph for security holes. If you find one by accident, please tell us at contact@taosoft.org and do not use it; we will not act against anyone who reports a problem to us in good faith.
Reports and moderation
Members can report any post, profile or other content with its Report link. Anyone, with or without an account, can report illegal content by writing to contact@taosoft.org with a link to it and why they believe it is illegal. The member reported is never told who reported them.
Reports are handled by people, our moderators and admins; no software decides what is removed. Depending on how serious and repeated a breach of these terms is, we may:
- remove content;
- clear a profile's display name, bio and picture;
- ban an account, which signs it out everywhere, hides its profile and content, and stops it from signing in again. A banned moderator or directory editor also loses that role.
We may also act without a report. When content suggests that someone's life or safety is in danger, or when the law requires it, we tell the police.
If we removed your content or banned your account, you can write to contact@taosoft.org to ask which rule it broke and why, and to have the decision looked at again. An admin then reviews it, and we tell you the outcome.
Face verification
Face verification is optional, and dating will require it once dating opens. It must be your own face, filmed live. If we find that a verification was cheated, we remove it and may ban the account.
The service
We work to keep Sociograph running and safe, but we provide it as it is: it may sometimes be unavailable, and features may change or be removed. If we ever close Sociograph, we will announce it on the site at least 30 days before.
Ending
You can delete your account at any time at /leave. We may end your access by banning your account if you break these terms, as described above.
Liability
Members are responsible for what they post and do, and we are not liable for it. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, for losses caused by other members or by Google's sign-in, or for events beyond our control. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer under laws that cannot be set aside by agreement.
Changes
We may update these terms, for example when new features such as dating open. We announce changes on Sociograph at least 30 days before they take effect, unless the law or the safety of members requires sooner. If you don't accept a change, you can delete your account before it takes effect; using Sociograph after that means you accept it.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If something goes wrong, please write to us first, and we will try to solve it together. Otherwise, disputes go to the Norwegian courts. If you live elsewhere in the EEA, you keep the protection of your own country's consumer laws, and you may also bring a case in its courts.
